Be Heard

(The following short piece is an excerpt from “7 Strategies for an Economic Downturn” by Maurine Jeude, one of 11 articles and mini essays in my free 20-page report, Smart Communication Strategies in a Down Economy.)

Many have gone silent or become very quiet in this downturn. If you have to pull back, do so less than your competitors, but remain heard – even a soft voice in a quiet room gets noticed!

There is plenty of empirical data that shows share of voice and perception of a brand as having quality are directly related.

And when you do put yourself out there, consider taking a less sober tone of voice – the nation is mired in economic doom and gloom; bring some levity to the conversation. It will be appreciated!

  • Duke March Madness Commercial with Coach K
Here’s a humorous commercial from about a year ago. The Duke Blue Devils designed their own basketball shoe for the NCAA Tournament. In the spot, Coach K meets with other hopeful designers. “Don’t forget your trident.” Ha ha. Don’t you dare think I’m a Duke fan. I am not.
