Top 10 Best-Read Cities

An Associated Press story in my June 1 (Sunday) Roanoke Times ranked the best-read cities, according to Amazon.com. The list included cities with a population of 100,000 people or more. Not coincidentally, several of the best-read cities are college towns.

Alexandria, Virginia, topped the list for the third straight year.

1. Alexandria, Virginia

2. Miami, Florida

3. Knoxville, Tennessee

4. Seattle, Washington

5. Orlando, Florida

6. Ann Arbor, Michigan

7. Berkeley, California

8. Cambridge, Massachusetts

9. Cincinnati, Ohio

10. Columbia, South Carolina

  1. Not surprised Ann Arbor is on that list. There are so many book clubs and writers groups in the city that it blows my mind. It’s a great place for books and book-lovers. It’s the hometown of Borders, after all!

      1. Unfortunately I don’t. I live 40 minutes from Ann Arbor so I know it well. It’s my default for all things bookish. đŸ™‚
